The Inspiration Tables Experience

The Inspiration Tables Experience
Get inspired at Inspiration Tables.

I'm always so excited when things are happening in Windhoek- especially when it has to do with food. Growing up and spending a part of my life in Stellenbosch, South Africa I had so many options available when it came to how I would spend my weekends. Whether it was wine tasting at some of the top wineries of South Africa, food and art markets on Sundays or even just a live performance in a botanical garden- there was always something to do. Moving back to Namibia was probably one of the hardest decisions of my life and I always missed all the arty markets and creative food stalls. Until Inspiration Tables came along- a-3-day food and handcrafted art festival. As described by the organizers: "A platform for imperfect perfections handcrafted lifestyle items & services."

This year was the second edition of Inspiration Tables and if you visited in 2017 you will known this festival grew tremendously since last year. Upon arrival we got a goodie bag with a Inspiration Tables leaflet, a magazine and a branded water bottle. You could fill up your water bottle with flavored water for a mere N$8 and keep hydrated for the day. I loved the idea of sipping on cucumber and raspberry infused water while strolling through the inspirational stalls.

We started off by getting our coffee fix at Slowtown Coffee Roasters. The service was fast and the coffee was excellent as always. After exploring all the colorful and interesting stalls I went to Le Pain Café for something to eat. I had one of their famous pizza slices with Black Forest Ham & Rocket and I bought some ciabatta's to impress my guests over the weekend (they loved it by the way!). After walking around for almost and hour I decided it's time to treat myself to something, and what better gift than a bottle of local craft gin by Stillhouse Atlantic. The design of this bottle of gin is so beautiful don't know if I ever want to open it!
My next stop was at Skeleton Coast Brewery for an ice cold beer. I'm not the biggest beer fan but I just had to try this craft beer, I went for a peach ale and was pleasantly surprised with this tasty beer! While sitting on the long festival table I felt content and totally blown away with all the effort the organizers and exhibitors put into this event.

I had a sweet ending to a beautiful day with The Taste Bud and a Red Velvet Fried Ice Cream Roll topped off with chocolate chips and whipped cream. I feel inspired and excited for the next Inspiration Tables.

Special thanks to Klara's Market Place for the ticket!

Until next time, your favorite-foodie Elzaan.
